Overview
Speaking in front of a crowd can be a nerve-wracking experience at the best of times, but making a wedding speech takes public speaking anxiety to another level. There’s the added challenge of being engaging with just the right balance of content, sentiment, sincerity and fun.
But don’t think you’ll just have a few drinks and the words will come tripping off the tongue. This strategy almost never works, and you don’t want to say something you’ll regret.
If you’re a member of a wedding party tasked with speech duty, our Wedding Speech Making course will show you how to make a speech that matches the occasion, your role, and your personality. Believe it or not, you can enjoy planning and delivering your speech! And if you’d like to involve children in your wedding ceremony or reception speeches, there are many ways to do so. Children might amaze you at how fabulously they step up and perform their roles!
We teach this course via webinar and tailor the sessions to your specific role in the wedding, i.e. bride or groom, maid of honour or bridesmaids, best man or groomsmen, parent of the bride or groom, etc. You can schedule up to three hours of private, one-to-one coaching via Skype or Zoom. Use your sessions with us to draft the content of your speech, or write your wedding vows, and to rehearse your delivery.
In addition to coaching, the online course curriculum provides access to a variety of wedding-specific resources, ideas, and tips to offer inspiration as you write and deliver this all-important speech.
We conduct this course in association with our sister site, The Occasional Speaker.

- IntroductionIn this session we get the organisation right. Not every wedding needs to follow the same format. It’s best to find an order of events that suits you, and matches the personalities, and capabilities, of your wedding party.2
- Who says and does what?Traditionally, each member of the bridal party has their own part to play but not all are generally expected to make a speech. You really don't want lots of repeated content and sentiment, or you’ll disengage your guests. Coordinating who will speak, and who says what is vital.8
- Delivery / Presentation tipsNot everyone is confident with speaking in public, but you do have the right to enjoy your own wedding. In this section we explore some the the techniques to overcome the natural anxiety associated with public speaking, and deliver your speech with style.5
- Ideas for contentStuck for ideas? In this section we offer a variety of ideas for content. The idea here is to stir your creativity around designing a speech that is both appropriate and engaging.5
