You get what you give
In days gone by there was a farmer who sold his butter to the local baker.
One day, the baker decided to weigh the butter the farmer sold to him just to check he was getting his monies worth. It confirmed his suspicions. The farmer had short-changed him. So, the baker took the farmer to court.
The judge asked the farmer what method he used to weigh his butter. The farmer replied, “Your Honour, I’m a poor man. I don’t have a proper measure.
The judge asked, “Then how do you weigh the butter?”
“Well, Your Honour, some time ago the baker sold me a pound loaf of bread. Now, each time the baker brings the bread, I put it on the scale and give him the same weight in butter. If anyone is to be blamed, it’s the baker.”
There is a lesson here for all business owners:
In life, and in business, you get what you give.
Err on the side of generosity.
